"They’re serious about eliminating the use of plastic in store, preferring vessels like jars and metal containers that may be reused instead. Ritual's concept is simple enough: purchase only what you need. If you have no use for a kilogram of beans in a recipe for one, feel free to take only what’s necessary. Same goes for the shampoo, body soap, and various sugars and spices. Even local ingredients you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere are all conveniently sold in one place. Just bring a jar–payment is based on weight. But it doesn’t end at just paying for what you need: you also get to relax as grains, beans, and powders are decanted into bags and jars as a unique form of ASMR."

"In the Philippines, they’re trying to revive the old way of making salt — it’s become a craft industry. We came across this salt in restaurants in Boracay and Manila and then I found it at a great store in Manila, Ritual, where I also picked up this wreath woven from vetiver grass (hanging on the cabinet above), which you put in your closet to ward off moths; another salt that comes wrapped in leaves; and this solid chunk of salt."

"Tucked inside the fifth floor of Karrivin Studios, Makati’s cool creative hub, Ritual is a general store that puts a premium on sustainability. The shop sells grocery items that are organic and local, where nothing is enclosed in single-use plastic bags or containers. Customers are encouraged to bring their own clean reusable containers where they can refill necessities such as liquid soaps and shampoo — all reasonably priced per gram. There’s also a selection of heritage ingredients such as muscovado sugar from Kabangkalan and vinegar from a variety of Philippine regions. In case you forget your reusables, their best-select come in recycled gin bottles."

"While many brands offer gift bundles, I recommend shopping gift kits from Ritual, a home goods and apothecary shop that sources its products fro m around the Philippines. Their gift kits are practical, tasteful, and also open to introducing new things your friends might enjoy, especially if they cook."
