TURMERIC POWDER (MARINDUQUE)
₱1.50
Recently hoisted onto the superfood pantheon, turmeric or luyang dilaw ("yellow ginger") has long been used as a medicinal and culinary plant in the Philippines.
An anti-inflammatory, it is taken as tea. When cooked, it usually shows up with coconut milk and lemongrass, or as an additional ingredient to adobo.
This powder is made from the dried and ground root (as it has been traditionally), and not the juice. It is good for culinary as well as therapeutic use. Add some to your almond milk, if that's your jam. Boil for a 5-10 minutes in a few cups of water and sip liberally. Regular use of turmeric prevents Alzheimer's and inflammatory diseases.
