KABOG MILLET (SIATON, NEGROS ORIENTAL)

KABOG MILLET (SIATON, NEGROS ORIENTAL)

Kabog millet (Panicum miliaceum) is a type of small-seeded grain traditionally grown in parts of the Philippines. The seeds are tiny, round, and pale yellow to light brown. Kabog millet is valued for being gluten-free and rich in fiber, protein, and minerals like iron and magnesium. Locally, it’s used in dishes like budbud kabog, a native delicacy where the millet is mixed with coconut milk and sugar, then wrapped in banana leaves. It’s considered a heritage crop and part of traditional food culture in Negros Oriental and Cebu.
